Itinerary
Day 1: Djibouti – Lake Abbé
• Overnight: Lake Abbé Camp or Neem Farm
• Departure from Djibouti City between 8:30 AM and 9:00 AM. We cross the Grand Bara, Djibouti's largest and most expansive desert plain, offering impressive open landscapes.
• We then continue towards Dikhil, often called the capital of unity, before heading southwest.
• In the late afternoon, arrival at the spectacular Lake Abbé, a unique and almost surreal site, famous for its limestone chimneys reaching over 50 meters in height. The sunset offers a magical and unforgettable atmosphere.
• Camp setup, dinner and night in the calm of Lake Abbé.Day 2: Lake Abbé – Lake Assal – Ghoubet
• Overnight: Ghoubet Camp
• Early morning departure to witness the sunrise at Lake Abbé, followed by an in-depth guided tour of the site (chimneys, fumaroles and surrounding landscapes). Return to camp for breakfast.
• We then take the road to the center of the country with a lunch stop in Dikhil, before crossing the Rift region passing through The Fault, spectacular canyons, Ghoubet, as well as natural hot water springs.
• Arrival at Lake Assal, Africa's lowest point at 155 meters below sea level. Visit the salt lake and its volcanic landscapes, then continue to Ghoubet camp for dinner and overnight.Day 3: Ghoubet Camp – Whale Shark Excursion – Djibouti City
• Overnight: Hotel Les Acacias or similar
• After breakfast at camp, departure to Ghoubet Bay for an exceptional marine experience: the whale shark observation excursion. We board a boat and navigate the bay in search of these sea giants, known for their peaceful and impressive nature.
• After the boat trip, return for lunch followed by a relaxing moment by the water. In the afternoon, departure towards Djibouti City. Upon arrival, a guided tour of the capital allows you to discover its main sites, iconic neighborhoods and lively atmosphere.
• Transfer to hotel and overnight. -
